The origins of metal from the Beatles to Black Sabbath
It is well known that the origins of metal music can be traced all the way from the mid-1960s, perhaps even before that, but metal bands have not been in existence until the formation of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. However, many bands have focused on the sounds that are focused on – very distorted guitars and power agreements – before you start to focus on the potential of sound engine.
In 1964, for example, The Kinks You Really Got Me released, it was around distorted guitar riffs saturated. However, many things have be said to play guitar on the first disc album Velvet Underground, The Velvet Underground & Nico. The influence of the expected distortion my man (1967) and heroin information is clearly the earliest forms of metal music. Lou Reed later released a solo album entitled Metal Machine Music (1975), which was a collection of distorted feedback loops. The notes of the album, Reed claimed to have invented metal music.
Late sixties heavy metal would sound even lead to win the release of citizens about the Beatles Helter Skelter White Album (1968). The song sounds heavier guitar at that time, Helter Skelter is clearly an important step in the evolution of music metal and the reality is that it was written by Paul McCartney. "Helter Skelter is certainly high in the ranks of the proto-metal.
It is therefore not surprising that in the same year as the White Album was released that both Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath formed, although to be fair to Jimmy Page had already begun to develop own interpretation of the distortion, feedback, fuzz tone in his previous band, The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton.
Led Zeppelin exploded onto the music scene of the Yardbirds break with his first album, Led Zeppelin. Offered heavy distortion, but the influences of the group means his music was rooted not only in the sounds of metal.
But it has been the formation of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, who created the concept of the strip metal. Black Sabbath, Paranoid and jumped Rock On All bands play heavy metal history. Originally from Birmingham, Ozzy Osborne and the rest of Black Sabbath are embedded in the metal scene, which gives a point of contact with Deep Purple. This approach was expanded with the start of Judas Priest in 1969. Native of Birmingham, the first album Rocka Rolla Judas Priest, was the beginning of a massive musical legacy that has left 35 million albums sold worldwide.
Many other groups and artists have contributed to more or less on the principle of metal music. Jimi Hendrix riffs, fuzz, for example, are an important source of inspiration for metal music, even to this day. Iron Butterfly In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is another good example of proto-metal music.
However, if Lou Reed said he is the inventor of metal music, who am I to argue.
